Year on year we have seen our salmon runs decline and endured drastic fishing closures. Unless we step up now to protect our most precious resource, our wild salmon and traditional ways of life could be put at even greater risk by out-of-state corporations destroying vital salmon habitat.

 

Ballot Measure 1:

• Allows public input on fish habitat permits for the first time, giving us a voice in development decisions that affect our salmon and our communities.

• Supports balanced, sustainable development—projects that expand our economy, develop rural infrastructure, and grow jobs—without threatening our wild salmon runs and subsistence way of life.

• Ensures salmon streams are protected for the long term by safeguarding water quality, fish passage, and spawning and rearing habitat.

​

• Creates real accountability, forcing big-time corporations to take responsibility for their impact on our wild salmon and pick up the clean-up bill if things go wrong.
